Integrated social, economic, cultural and environmental development and an end to poverty – an impossible dream?
Or can we achieve it?
Is it acceptable to stick our heads in the sand and hope for the best, or wait until someone, somewhere makes a decision on our behalf?
Is it ok to carry on regardless of the impact of our action on others? Do we have a responsibility to take time to reflect on where we are going and why?
The RE:generate team – founders, trustees, staff , volunteers, advisers and supporters are all people who are committed to positive, creative and enterprising action to change the way things are and the way things are done. We are working to tackle poverty and injustice at its root.
We believe we are entering a period of transformation that will demand dialogue, understanding and respect at every level of society if we are to ensure a safe, just and sustainable future.
Successful communities will build trust between diverse people, agencies, government and business. Those that don't will continue to suffer damage and cause damage.
We believe we must develop a new mind set to tackle the complex issues that we are all facing in the 21st Century.
We believe that confronting the difficulties we will inevitably face in the coming 50 years is everybody's responsibility – including our own.
We believe we need to engage with people at every level of society and from all walks of life to challenge apathy and to encourage and support everyone to take part in public life by voting, volunteering and working to organise and build sustainable businesses and projects, protect the environment and care for the most vulnerable. These actions will tackle poverty at its root.
